Enough said...

We recently went swimming at the public pool with both my brother's and their families. Ethan had such a blast. For a small fee, the pool provides a vest for small children, which makes it so much easier on the parent when you have to hold your child the entire time. He was timid and scared at first and the water was a bit colder than we both liked, but eventually Ethan relaxed and enjoyed swimming like nemo! We also got to enjoy the hot tub too. That's right, a public indoor pool with a hot tub! This may not be new to some people, but for me its definetely cool. I grew up going to an old pool that was small and had a very small section of bleachers for parents to sit on and no hot tub. So going to a public pool that is huge, has a low and high dive, a slide and hot tub was so awesome for me. Ethan didn't want to leave at the end. Can I just say that those nice curtains they put over stalls for you to get dressed in are so worthless when you have a toddler swinging the curtain freely and running in and out of the stall, meanwhile mom is scrambling to undress and dress without flashing the entire locker room full of people. Then to top off the entire trip, I was standing in the lobby with Ethan in my arms (he didn't have his shoes on) and he decided it would be super fun to pull the white latch on the little red box on the wall... that's right, the fire alarm! After profusely appologizing to the nice pool lady and watching everyone having to get out of the pool, she some how magically was able to unlock the lockbox and turn the alarm off. Now, working for the fire department, that's not exactly legal and I'm not sure how they get away with doing that, but I was extremely grateful she did because along with a call to the security place, it prevented the further embarassment of seeing a firetruck pull into the lot. All the while, my brother laughing at me because I apparently looked mortified the entire time. Wouldn't you be?!

I was reading a book today and this little poem (which I've read years ago before I became a mother) made me laugh, but mostly I just nodded and completely agree...

"A Mother's Prayer:
Dear Lord,
So far today I've done all right. I haven't gossiped, I haven't lost my temper, I haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or very indulgent. I'm very grateful for that. But in a few minutes, Lord, I'm going to get out of bed, and from then on, I'm going to need a lot more help. Amen."
