Next we headed to Utah... Ethan was the first one up on Christmas day (he is usually the first up on everyday) and when we went into the living room, he sure got excited when he saw all the pretty wrapped gifts. Daddy had to help keep him from getting into anything, so we quickly put on a movie to help entertain till everyone else was up.
Ethan made out like a bandit this year! In fact, I decided to put a few things away in the closet for a rainy day... I figure he'd appreciate each toy better that way when it's new one at a time. The biggest hit this year was a train set and he has been a train addict every since (he's always loved the train set at his Grammy Felt's house). He now has a nice wooden train set, Thomas, Percy, and Alfie from Thomas the Train Engine and he's got a Thomas book, another train book and a Thomas lunch box which he loves to put all his trains in and he carries them around everywhere he goes.
He also got A fun playdough set where you use the playdough as the body and add eyes and wheels and create cars, planes, and trains from it. He got Legos and some fun movies to add to our daily watching collection (Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Sid the Science Kid, Handy Manny, etc). He also got Hungry Hungry Hippos game which we've played a few times as well.
My most uniquely wrapped gift this year was a locket that Jordon gave me. It came in a fully sealed tin can of green beans! There were no green beans in the can, just a nice pretty box in a sealed bag inside the can full of water.... and I had to use a can opener to get into it. Jordon got this kind of idea from his Grandpa Franco. Grandpa always gives Grandma uniquely wrapped gifts each year for birthdays, Christmas, Anniversaries, etc. It must surely run in the family. It was very cute and alot of fun to figure out why he'd given me green beans for Christmas! Sorry for the side ways photo, it just wouldn't flip the right way, and I don't have a photo of myself with the can, that was taken by another camera. But I'm excited to put two pictures of my boys into my necklace!
We had a wonderful day and have been so blessed and taken care of by our families. The rest of the week, the men spent building a deck for Jordon's brother. He's moving within the next few months and needed a new/better deck to help make the house more marketable. It was a long and tedious job, and they spent many cold blistery days out in the snow, but it looks beautiful and is almost finished, just needs the railings put on. The other excitement was figuring out that my brother and sister in-law's dog was going to have puppies any day now. Poor thing is so uncomfortable and tired, reminded me when I was 9 months pregnant. So we are eagerly awaiting to hear how many puppies she has. Jordon, Ethan and I also went and spent a few hours visiting my friend Amy and her family. Her little boy James had trains and loves Thomas, so of course he and Ethan got along great and played with trains for the few hours we were there visiting. We girls also took some time to do a little shopping, which is our tradition when we get together. All in all, it was a busy, fun and tiring week. I was sure glad to be home last night and in my own bed. Being with family is sure great, but there's something about being in your own bed at night. That's it for now...
